Why I Run

Sometimes I don’t know the answer to this question. Because runners are crazy, we get up an insane hours to go completely exhaust ourselves. We eat goop so we can keep exhausting ourselves. We spend 100’s of dollars every few months on new shoes and more gear we probably don’t need. We run through winter’s -20+ windchill, we run through the summer’s 40+ humidity. And let’s not even talk about the pain.

It really doesn’t sound like fun.

Yet somehow it is.

I run to prove to myself that I am capable of more than I can imagine.

I run for my mental well being.

I run to belong to something.

I run because even when I think what I do is crazy and stupid, it’s what I want to be doing.
